Perhaps you were under the impression that making balloon structures was an act best suited for birthdays and Bar Mitzvahs. But like we discovered with the accordion, it turns out there's a whole lot more to it than what you might expect.
Pun-ridden documentary Twisted: A Balloonamentary, from filmmakers and balloon aficionados Naomi Greenfield and Sara Taksler, sports a loaded tagline: "Once you make a balloon dog, you can do anything." But the film delivers on its high-hoping promise, exploring the community, inspiration and warm-hearted competition that fuel the balloon-twisting world. Oh, and yes—that's Jon Stewart narrating the animation.Since premiering at SXSW, Twisted's charming characters—including a balloon preacher who found religion through his art and a particularly talented practitioner who wanted to set an example of a path that steered clear of drugs—are halfway through their tour of screens across America.
