I agree that Wilco and Pearl Jam should be on this list. Bruce - get serious! U2 are dated. The Hold Steady suck! Didn't the Stones die a couple of years ago? Prince only performs at football games. And DMB? The only thing good about a DMB concert is that I keep getting older and the girls at that show stay the same age!
To the person that said "Bruce? Get serious", you obviously did not see him on this tour. The band is the tightest band in rock and though they may not fit into your "hip crowd" they are still the best live act in the business hands down.
What with their mariachi band, glowing orbs and - oh yeah- amazing music, I'd have to say that after seeing them at Bonnaroo, Sigur Ros owns all. Goodness knows I was in Iceland for their four hour set.
Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams is the absolute best band out there - not in the big arena spectacle sense, but in terms of great musicianship, fantastic sound, deep, clever and catchy lyrics, captivating stage presence and a lead guitarist second to none! I would go hear this band in a heartbeat over any of the bands on the list above - and I really like a lot of those bands.
I have yet to attend a show better than a Ben Folds show. It doesn't need the big tech stuff that makes things like Flaming Lips great, but pulls you in with his amazing piano skills. And the ability to be very creative with what goes in and out of his piano.
Polyphonic Spree also put on one of the best shows I have ever seen.
I've seen Radiohead, DMB and R.E.M this summer, and each group has re-affirmed its worthiness as a live must-see. It's tough to pick a fave. RH was solid and sultry, DMB a realiable tour de force, and R.E.M. proved it had the guts to put on a humble, rock solid, return-to-roots concert experience.
Pearl Jam???
Where is Pearl Jam?
hands down its pearl jam - why aren't they on this list?
No Wilco??
Monotonix you fools!
