What the world needs now is a Brett Ratner-directed movie based on the God of War video game series. Right? Well, if the rumors are true, it looks like that's exactly what the world will be getting.
MGM stoked the whispers in a press release that was actually about the new Robocop movie. You see, David Self penned the screenplay for both Robocop and Universal's God of War, "to which Brett Ratner is attached to direct," the statement says.
Ratner directed X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), Rush Hour 3 (2007), and one of the short stories that make up the upcoming New York, I Love You (2009). He also directed Miley Cyrus' new music video, for the song "7 Things," which has over 13 million views on YouTube.
Some fans of the video game appear unhappy with the decision. X-Men: The Last Stand was not the most popular X-Men installment with critics, but it still grossed more at the box office than any of the trilogy's movies. And if the world needs anything, it's more high-grossing action movies.
