In his song "W Cheese," Darrell Scott manages to put a new spin on the whole "singer/songwriter vs. the government" shtick by singing about artisan cheeses from Canada. In it, a woman can't sell her cheese in America after 9/11, because it is often mistaken for anthrax. The more you know, right?
Fans of Scott are in luck, as the one-time ASCAP songwriter of the year is releasing his newest album, Modern Hymns, on Aug. 19. However, his own innovative songwriting will be absent on this album. Modern Hymns is Scott's take on 12 songs by some of his favorite musicians, including Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen.
