Thank goodness for Arrested Development. If David Cross hadn't made a name for himself as never-nude aspiring actor Dr. Tobias Fünke on everyone's favorite prematurely canceled comedy, he might be better known for some of his other roles in films that don't quite do his comedic genius justice.
While he's kept busy with his stand-up and a foray into the animated realm, what Cross really needs is a vehicle to put his unique brand of comedy in the spotlight. We're keeping our fingers crossed he gets it with Demoted, a movie about two tire store co-workers that share an intense rivalry. The movie also stars Michael Vartan, who gets his comeuppance when Cross, who he regularly torments, gets a promotion.
All the elements are there for a comedic gem. Let's hope Cross can get out of his Fünke funk and make us laugh in a setting that doesn't involve cut-offs.
In the meantime, you can look forward to Cross' hilarious contribution to one of the feature stories in Paste's September issue.

Any word on an AD movie yet? Really miss that show, nothing compares!
After his work in Arrested Development, I'll see anything with Cross. Hopefully this will be a big turning point for him.
