While you’re watching entire miniseries in anticipation of the main event, you might want to start paying attention to the details of the shows, because the award categories certainly are specific: they range from onscreen feats like acting and cinematography to behind the scenes aspects such as writing and even hairdressing.
Reality and reality competition series (think PBS' Antiques Roadshow and FOX's American Idol, respectively) get their own categories alongside drama (ABC's Boston Legal and Lost), comedy (NBC's The Office), and miniseries (HBO's John Adams).
The ceremonies (that’s right, two separate affairs) will both take place at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live: the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, Sept. 13, and the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 21.
