Layer-heavy Brooklyn duo High Places, who recently inspired the budding eMusic Selects program, will release their self-titled debut come September. With a self-described sound of "two dads hanging out" on their MySpace, Mary Pearson (a trained bassoonist) and Rob Barber (a trained visual artist) incorporate bird calls, treated guitar, glockenspiel and even a few mixing bowls into their music. You want thing-a-ma-bobs? They've probably got 20. And some cool dads.
High Places is currently hightailing it across the country with No Age following their earlier release 03/07-09/07—a collection of previously released singles and rarities.
