Sun Kil Moon's Mark Kozelek does charity, album, tour

In this edition of the "All Mark Kozelek, All The Time" newscast, we have almost more Kozelek/Sun Kil Moon news than you can handle. Almost. Big fans: please have a paper bag handy for hyperventilation purposes.

At the top of today’s stories, Kozelek plans to auction five of his guitars and use the proceeds to benefit the victims of flooding in the Midwest through the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The guitars, all rare and vintage, were made available for bidding on eBay this past Sunday (July 20). Born in Massillon, Ohio, Kozelek “feels especially close to” the flooding victims’ cause, according to his eBay charity website.

Next in the news roundup, get your copy of 7 Songs Belfast while it’s hot! The new CD, recorded live in Belfast during Kozelek’s 2007 European tour, is free with merchandise (CDs, vinyl, tee shirts, etc.) purchased at the website of Kozelek’s record label, Caldo Verde Records. A limited edition record, there are only 1,500 copies of the disc available.

To round things out, there is a tour, specifically of Europe and the UK. Sun Kil Moon, featuring Kozelek joined by guitarist Phil Carney and bassist Jerry Vessel of Red House Painters, and drummer Eric Pollard of Retribution Gospel Choir, will travel those regions throughout September and October. Sun Kil Moon's last album, April, was released April 1 of this year.
