The Wachowski brothers, of Matrix trilogy fame and, more recently, Speed Racer box-office shame, may have another movie in the works: DC comic superhero flick Plastic Man. And who would play the shape-shifting superhero himself? The rumors say Wachowski alum Keanu Reeves may be tapped to become Patrick “Eels” O’Brien, the Secretly Stretchy One.
The blogosphere (and apparently the telephonosphere and the radiosphere) is atwitter over Cinematic Happenings Under Development's report that (stay with us here) a German guy claims to have heard producer Joel Silver on the radio talking about the Plastic Man project. German radio fanboy reported to CHUD what he heard, and thus, the rumors are off to the interwebby races.
The Wachowski writers/directors—Andy and Larry, as their mother calls them—actually wrote a Plastic Man script before they began working on The Matrix projects, and Warner Bros./DC Comics have recently become interested in bringing a wider variety of superheroes to the big screen.
Speed Racer, released in May of this year and starring Emile Hirsch and Matthew Fox, was so unsuccessful in terms of box office earnings (it grossed $85 million worldwide, compared to a production cost of $120 million) that many are surprised the Wachowskis are considering more projects this soon. The rumors, however, have yet to be substantiated by anyone other than the German radio fan. If Reeves does sign on to this project, it’ll be his first reuniting with the Wachowski brothers since The Matrix Revolutions in 2003.
By the way, the movies of The Matrix trilogy together grossed over $541 million worldwide. This could be why Keanu is the Wachowski's rumored go-to guy for a new role of heroic (stretchy) proportions.

The Wachowskis are only 1 for 3 on movies with Keanu that didn't suck. I don't have a very good feeling about this.
Another Disaster in the Making.
