Magnetic Fields announce fresh batch of tour dates

With his depiction of Stephin Merritt for Paste's January feature on the Magnetic Fields, the illustrator known simply as "Pablo" managed to capture the soul of the lovelorn songwriter. Yeah, the dopey doe eyes pop out at you first, but check out that arrow piercing the guy's heart. Love hurts, as they say.

The band's latest effort, the headphone-friendly Distortion, showed how to properly co-opt the sound of the Jesus & Mary Chain after a legion of imitators had tried that trick and failed. Now, following a quick bout of shows in February and March and a summer run through Europe, Merritt and Company will criss-cross America once again this October.
