This fall, Mogwai fans will be inundated with new tunes from the Scottish post-rock stars. There’s the new album, The Hawk Is Howling, set to be released in America by Matador Records on Sept. 23. There’s also the three-song Batcat EP, available Sept. 8. Now, there’s the first single from Howling, “The Sun Smells Too Loud,” available online here and for download on the group’s MySpace page.
The release of the single is the first drop in the Mogwai storm. Promotion for The Hawk, the group’s sixth studio album, prompted its current international tour, which lasts until the end of October.
Batcat EP features the vocal stylings of psychedelic singer Roky Erickson on the final track, "Devil Rides."
