The 9th Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference has added even more artists to its already expansive musical lineup. The Nashville event’s newest performers include Marcia Ball, Langhorne Slim, Tim O’Brien, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Folk Uke, Band of Heathens, and Kathy Mattea. The festival, held Sept. 17 - 20, will feature performances in venues all over Tenn.’s famous music city.
The initial lineup, released in May, features James McMurtry, Jim White, The Belleville Outfit, Paul Thorn, The Snake The Cross The Crown and The SteelDrivers.
The Americana Music Festival & Conference isn’t just about the shows, though there certainly are quite a few (read: more than 80 each evening) of those planned. During the days, seminars, panels, and networking opportunities are available for the 2,000 artists, fans and industry professionals expected to show up this year.
On Sept. 18 at the Ryman Auditorium, the focus of the event shifts to the Americana Music Association Honors and Awards ceremony. This year’s honorees include John Hiatt with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Songwriting and Jason and the Scorchers with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Performance. Jim Lauderdale is scheduled to host the Honors and Awards, and music will come from a house band led by Buddy Miller.
Wristbands for admission to all evening musical showcases are available for $35 at the Americana Music Association’s website, and tickets for the Americana Honors and Awards ceremony are available for $45 at (615)386-6936.
