Watch the new James Bond trailer online

| | Comments (1)
James Bond trailers are sort of like a funny experiment in system overload. Bond films themselves are obviously action-packed, but also provide the added bonus of a plot so you can convince yourself you wouldn’t pay your $10 just to watch the recklessly charming Brit roll around on the floor (woman still in arms), finding a way to escape his staked-out hotel room through a hidden fire escape. But given the constraints of space, the Bond trailer has the daunting task of packing all the action of the jet ski chase, speedboat chase, motorcycle chase and classic bedroom chase into under two minutes. The fact that they even take the time to address a plot in these things is an achievement in itself.
The trailer for the upcoming Bond flick Quantum of Solace (which sort of sounds like a post-emo band) was released online yesterday. And the lesson we seem to be able to take away from the trailer overlaps a bit with another recent blockbuster: You wouldn’t like Bond when he’s angry. After being betrayed by the woman he loves, our hero seems to be set on a one-man revenge mission against the world, one that's not even sanctioned by Judi Dench (who portrays his trusty advisor M). And she looks wise. Why go against her wishes, Bond? Why?

The film, due out Nov. 7, is directed by Marc Forster, and sees Daniel Craig returning to the Bond role after his successful beginnings in Casino Royale.

I've never been excited about Bond movies. Until now. Casino Royale changed everything.
