New Weezer/Rivers Cuomo material coming in November?

While putting the finishing touches on The Red Album and kicking off a tour to support it, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has been working on a side project of his own. Using YouTube to send videos to his fans, the singer has let folks submit every part of a new song from its chords to lyrics. The whole thing has been getting closer to completion after four months of work and, honestly, starting to turn out a really catchy power-pop song. When he wants to, that Cuomo knows his stuff.

In the latest video, step 15 of the songwriting process, Cuomo laid out a seemingly innocuous yet clearly important announcement. Rather than finishing things up, he said he wants people to "chill."

"Step 15 is chill. That's it, just chill," said Cuomo. "You've been working very hard for the past I dunno how many months on this song. You've come up with some amazing ideas but there's a lot of material in the pool now, there's a few hazy areas in the song, everyone's brains might be getting a little fuzzy from all the hard work and all the options. What we need to do now is take a step back and just chill. I think we're almost at the point now where we can hand this off to the wolves, but that doesn't need to happen until closer to November. So I say we take a little time off, rest of July, probably most of August . . . then we'll reconvene."

Wait, say what? Who are these "wolves," and what will they be doing with this song come November? No one has really known what greater purpose this Internet songwriting would take, but now it sounds like the track might be part of Cuomo's next full-length, be it another solo record or a seventh Weezer album.
