October 7 will see the release of Rachael Yamagata's new album, a two-parter adroitly called Rachael Yamagata: A Record In Two Parts...Elephants and Teeth Sinking Into Heart.
Quite a title. According to its press release, Elephant is "darker and more vulnerable," and "plays like a film score, with orchestral transitions that expand as the songs progress."
The "guitar-driven" Teeth Sinking Into Heart, on the other hand, is "grittier and more defiantly cynical." Both are said to explore heartbreak and relationships, and both are contained within one disc.
Mike Mogis, known for his work with Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley and The Faint, produced 11 of the album's 14 tracks. Expect guest appearances from Maria Taylor (Azure Ray) and James Valentine (Maroon 5).
