Radiohead embarks on tour, releases exclusive videos

Nigel Godrich officially has the coolest Basement of all time. Rather than housing clunky appliances and cast-off toys (who really used Lincoln Logs?), the famed record producer’s Basement is home to a recording studio that features live performance videos of musicians like Damien Rice, The White Stripes, Sonic Youth and Radiohead.

Radiohead recently performed 10 songs in an exclusive recording for release only on iTunes. The 10 videos of tracks from In Rainbows are available now in a video album titled In Rainbows - From The Basement. The performances, which are actually filmed at The Hospital studio in Covent Garden, usually air on television on the show From The Basement.

On the Basement website, Thom Yorke said this of the recording experience: “From The Basement was exciting because it came from the desire to cut out the crap that lies between the music and the viewer. To get plugged straight into the mains. No producer director egos messing it up."

Radiohead has embarked on its summer tour following the release of Radiohead: The Best Of in just about every format imaginable: a single CD collection featuring 17 tracks, a Special Edition double CD set with 13 extra tracks, a 4-piece vinyl set with 29 tracks, 17-track or 30-track digital downloads, and a DVD featuring 21 classic promo videos. Collect them all while the band hits up dates across Europe and North America.

In an effort to take over literally every media outlet possible, Radiohead has also mastered the "video blip" format. The band has released 11 video blips, available for streaming online. These are literally blips, about one second of a video before a Radiohead logo claims the screen. Interesting, if a bit perplexing:
