Forego the infinite sadness, because you've been invited to one of the best birthday parties of the year. The Smashing Pumpkins, celebrating two decades as a band, plan to embark on two rounds of tours this year: a run in August playing "unique sets and songs" at mostly small venues followed by a larger-venue, big-city set of shows. Dates for the latter have been slated for New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, Billboard reports.
Come 2009, look for yet another tour in support of Pumpkins' debut, Gish. The band has said it's drumming up a box set of this album and some other Pumpkins oldies.Current dates, according to the band's website:
August
8 - Davenport, Iowa @ Adler Theatre
9 - Hammond, Ind. @The Venue
12 - Louisville, Ky. @ Palace Theatre
15 - Charlotte, N.C. @ Ovens Auditorium
20 - Clearwater, Fla. @ Ruth Eckerd Hall
