Wallace & Gromit episodic video game in works

Everyone's favorite bumbling-inventor-and-clever-dog duo, Wallace & Gromit, will soon see another video game adaptation, this time in an episodic format. Telltale Games is now developing Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures based off the award-winning film series.

The quirky claymation characters had previously taken video-game form with standalone games Cracking ContrapationsProject Zoo, and Curse of The Were-Rabbit. Telltale Games, however, aims to mirror the series more accurately in this game. "The other games captured the personality, but all you ended up doing was running through the world, " Telltale Games CEO Dan Connors recently told the Associated Press. " It was a standard platform game. We feel like the gameplay should be more of an experience. You should be able to interact with the other characters and really feel like you're in the world of Wallace & Gromit."

Connors also said that the game creators are "going for the clay look" in their game, to further mimick the characters' original form.  The game will allow players to take on both characters in a style comparable to another one of its episodic games, Sam & Max.
Aardman Animation's Wallace & Gromit franchise has been going strong since 1985 when Nick Park began work on the short A Grand Day Out, just a year before the Bristol creative team produced Peter Gabriel's iconic "Sledgehammer" video.  Several Wallace & Gromit projects have earned Academy Awards, including wins for the short The Wrong Trousers and feature-length The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

A new short, titled A Matter of Loaf and Death, is currently in the works.
