Amy Sedaris returns to high school in Gym Teacher

Remember in Strangers With Candy when Amy Sedaris' Jerry Blank hosted a drug party to try to fit in with the cool kids (if not, we'll just say it didn't end well, that is, unless dead cheerleaders are your thing). Well, Sedaris is returning to high school, but she may need to clean up her act a bit this time.

Yes, as Pop Candy tipped us off, this time Sedaris will be on the other side of the war on drugs as Principal Hoffman in Nickelodeon's Gym Teacher: The Movie. The return to these familiar corridors seems to be due at least in part to the project being directed by former Strangers co-star Paul Dinello. The film was written by brothers Daniel and Steven Altiere, who also worked together on the upcoming Scooby Doo: The Beginning.

No word yet hinting that fellow Strangers alum Stephen Colbert will have any involvement. Logic might tell us they would need to inject his name somewhere near the title to seal such a deal, but we're still crossing our fingers.

The gym teacher who becomes the gem of Sedaris' eyes is played by Law and Order: SVU's Christopher Maloney. Only time will tell if Maloney will be using his crime-scene tools on the principal in the locker room after some further questioning.
