Be Your Own Pet announce final shows, break up

Just four months after the release of its sophomore album Get Awkward, the Nashville quartet Be Your Own Pet is calling it quits.

Making the announcement this afternoon via the band's website and Myspace page, the members of Be Your Own Pet left little... wait, no explanation for the split, but did have this to say: "We are sad to bring you the news that our upcoming shows in the UK ... are going to be our last as a band. We thank you for all your love and support these past few years-- its been a blast but the time has come for the 4 of us to go our separate ways."

It's a sad day for fans of the punky youngsters, but this certainly isn't the last time we'll hear from Jemina, Jonas, John and Nathan, since all have side projects (Turbo Fruits and Deluxin, to name a couple). If you can't make it out to one of their final shows, or even if you can, go ahead and channel your grief into a MySpace comment while giving Get Awkward yet another head bangin' listen.
