Bishop Allen announces tour, new record

We here at Paste have lied awake more than a few cold nights this past year pacing back and forth through the hall waiting for something new to come from Band of the Week alum Bishop Allen. Sure, it's only been a little over a year, but we find ourselves lost without the group's soothing melodies, clever lyricism and indie-film sensibility in our daily lives. And we like the slap-in-the-face of oversaturation (the band released one EP in each month of 2006). We were so inspired we decided to come out with one magazine for every month of the year. (That is, except December and January, because they're simply too cute together. Who could keep those crazy kids apart?)

But never fear, as the boys (and girl) from Brooklyn (via Cambridge) taught us, let the rain fall down...if it's ever gonna get any better, it's got to get worse for a day. And so we listened and let it rain, and now, if you'll allow us to mix our indie-pop metaphors, it's not just raining Bishop Allen, it's pouring.

First is the band's new song and role in the upcoming indie-tastic Michael Cera movie Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Next, a headlining tour across America (it seems the band really likes Texas) where Bishop Allen will try out material from a new album. That's right, we said "new album." The as-yet-untitled follow up to The Broken String is due out in February, according to the band's website.
