New York City does it big, and music festivals are no exception. Sure, the rest of the country has Sasquatch, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and countless other shindigs worth hitting up, but New York likes to thumb their suspenders with a mid-fall event called the CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival that's just about the biggest gig, well, anywhere.
From October 21-25, 100,000 fans, musicians, filmmakers and industry reps will descend on NYC for some live shows, film screenings and well-organized craziness. Among the acts headlining this epic jamboree are Broken Social Scene, Deerhoof, Jay Reatard, Lykke Li, Minus the Bear, The Dears and They Might Be Giants. Of course, that's barely scratching the surface, so a full list of performing acts can be found at the festival's website (more to be announced soon.) Interested parties should direct themselves to CMJ's TicketWeb page, where they can purchase advance badges at a 15% discount until Aug. 19.
