Obscure indie music artists, take note: Your life just (potentially) got a whole lot easier. Independent CD and DVD manufacturer, Disc Makers, recently acquired CD Baby, the interwebs' premiere location for indie music.
What does this mean exactly? While we don't necessarily fancy ourselves "experts" on the "music business," we can speculate with the best of them. The merger should make the manufacturing and distribution of indie music much more accessible and seamless for the aforementioned artists.
And what's in it for the not-so-musically-inclined, the "non-muscians," if you will? Since CD Baby is keeping it's name, not much will change on the consumer side, except that the new relationship should make it much easier for all of us to get ahold of some great new music. And we are totally down with that.

This article is a short cut to thinking. You believe this will make things easier for indie artists? Perhaps the ones on CDBaby will now have access to cheaper CD duplication and artwork, but that is it. What about the claims of supporting independent artists 100%? That focus will undoubetly be back-burner from this point on.
earbuzz.com is the ONLY site that truly returns 100% of the album sales revenue back to the artist - and that is how you support independent music: By making sure the artist gets every penny from their record sales.
An interesting employee's take on the sale of the company.
