Danger Mouse and Cee-Lo aren't often (or ever, really) described as musical minimalists. Apple is more or less the gold standard in simplicity. So when the Gnarls Barkley pair recorded a live five-song EP at the Apple store in SoHo, it could have resulted in almost anything.
Luckily for fans of both, the collaboration was more about shared innovation than austerity or a lack thereof. The EP features five previously recorded Gnarls Barkley songs and, as Cee-Lo describes on iTunes, turns them into "cool, lounge-y stripped down versions."
The songs are available for purchase exclusively on iTunes. We plan on checking them out immediately and maybe in our free time creating some Gnarls mixes of our own. Does that make us crazy? Possibly.
