M.I.A. fires back at DeLon for terrorism diss

Breaking updates in M.I.A-gate: the British hip-hop star born Mathangi Arulpragasam has responded to Sri Lankan rapper DeLon's accusations that she's embracing terrorist imagery: "I don't support terrorism and never have. As a Sri Lankan that fled war and bombings, my music is the voice of the civilian refugee. Frankly, I am not trying to start dialogue with someone who is really just seeking self-promotion."

DeLon contended that M.I.A.'s use of Tigers (the symbol of Sri Lankan terrorist group the LTTE) in her music videos was a celebration of the group and their tactics. Those of us hoping that this would play out as epically as Nas VS Jay-Z may be a little disappointed that M.I.A. is basically trying to close the book on the issue. Then again, maybe it's for the best.
