Neil Young takes Wilco and Death Cab on tour

In the fall, legendary rocker Neil Young will begin a North American tour toting two of alternative rock’s biggest, most college-y names. Death Cab for Cutie will play at the first concert Oct. 14 in St. Paul, Minn, and Wilco will take over the opening act during the second half of the circuit, beginning Nov. 29 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Los Angeles indie rock trio Everest joins the powerhouse playbill on every date of the tour.

This month, Young wraps up a European tour and plans appearances at several upcoming charitable events, including his yearly Farm Aid and Bridge School Benefits.

Death Cab for Cutie finishes an Australian series before a short run headlining in the states. Until the band's November union with Young, Wilco is expected to be working on its seventh album, a collection the band hopes will reflect a new, more studio-focused sound, due in the spring of 2009.
