Playlist announced for Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

--

In the beginning, there was Garden State, and it was nice film. But then music blogs made fun of Natalie Portman's throwaway line, and hipsters cast Zach Braff into the pit of eternal condescension, never to reenter the kingdom of good graces. But lo', it was prophesied that a child from the OC (don't call it that) would arise and deliver redemption to awkward music-loving introverts everywhere. His name was Michael Cera, and on his right hand was Juno.
Now it looks like Michael Cera is looking to usurp the crown of cool movie soundtracks from... Michael Cera. His upcoming music-centric romantic comedy Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist just revealed details about its, ahem, playlist, and it's a doozy from the looks of its press release:

"[The album] features tracks from some of indie rock's best and brightest, including Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, We Are Scientists, Bishop Allen, and Devendra Banhart... In addition to songs by such artists as Richard Hawley, The Real Tuesday Weld, and the late, great Chris Bell, the soundtrack also features a previously unreleased tune from L.A.-based newcomers Army Navy, as well as an exclusive selection from the film's score, performed by its legendary composer, Mark Mothersbaugh."

The soundtrack is available for pre-order on Atlantic Records' online store beginning Aug. 26, and will hit brick-and-mortar stores in CD and vinyl format on Sept. 23. Why pre-order? Good question. The first 200 people to sign up for the album will get a limited Nick and Norah shirt, that will no doubt give you serious cred points in certain Cera-obsessed circles.

Maybe this will be the movie that finally changes our lives. Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist hits theaters Oct. 3.

Original music for Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist - Mark Mothersbaugh

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Electric Six featured in the movie? I could have swore I recognized Dick Valentine's voice in one of the scenes.. the one, I believe, where the back doors of the van open and the boys shout "Jump in for a six party!" Originally I thought they said "sex party" until I thought I heard E6 playing in the background... anyone else get that?

I thought I heard Conor Oberst at some point in the car with Nick and Triss... Which song was that?

What song did Nick and Norah dance to when they did the "blow dryer"

yeah, i'm wondering that too. what was the song that was meant to be danced to with the "hand dance". where they don't quite touch hands...

What was the first song in the credits at the end of the movie?

=)

Ugh, a poor movie exploiting terrific music. I know who it is but I'll never tell!!

I'm terribly selfish about my tunes. : )

to the blow dryer one. its lover by, devendra banhart:)

p.s. music is not 'yours'. its meant to be shared. why do you think musicians make music. its sharing an idea.

Does anyone know what the song is that they sing live and listen to in the car (while deciding what to name their band) that is supposily be 'The Jerk Offs' in the movie?

The first song in the CREDITS is OTTOMAN COUCH by VAMPIRE WEEKEND and the song they are DANCING to (hair dryer; the hand dance, thing) is LOVER by DEVENDRA BANHART

was there a song that had something to do with a bridge??!
[idk something like that]

whats that song when norah first sees tall in that club an the guy gets all happy and starts screaming an tears off his shirt and starts dancing?
