Nicolas Cage loves comic books. After starring in Ghost Rider and naming his son Kal-el, the Hollywood Reporter cited on Friday that the Coppola nephew has signed on for an adaptation of Mark Millar's Kick-Ass. Cage is set to play a former cop intent on bringing down a druglord in the violent pic. Chloe Moretz plays the daughter he has trained to fight alongside him.
Cage's storyline isn't the main plot point, though. The imprint from Marvel Comics Icon tells the story of a high-school loser (Aaron Johnson) named Dave who decides to become a superhero even though he has no powers. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop him from trying and he runs into some trouble (read: bad guys) while on his quest for greatness.
The film, which is being financed independently due to the bloody subject matter, is set to begin shooting with Matthew Vaughn (recently attatched to Marvel's Thor) in London and Toronto this fall.
