Todd Solondz's Happiness follow-up to see the light of day

On Wednesday, Variety reported that button-pusher extraordinaire Todd Solondz is finally getting his happy ending. After languishing for a long while without financial backup, his companion piece/sequel to Happiness is finally getting made.

Werc Werk Works, a new production company that hopes to churn out on 3-4 films a year, has come to the rescue by providing producers and all of the financing for Solondz's currently untitiled follow up.

Solondz screenplay is described in Variety as revolving "around a group of individuals struggling to find a place for themselves in an unpredictable and volatile world." The story is "told through a series of intersecting love stories; the past haunts the present and imperils the future: ghost circle and loom, trouble and console." You know, typically lighthearted Solondz material!

Although several different actors (including Demi Moore and Emma Thompson, according to Variety) have been rumored for roles in the feature while it was looking for financing, the film is only currently being cast and shooting is scheduled for October in Puerto Rico.
