At this point in his career, it's become pretty apparent that Stephen Colbert is a baller. The man already has an airplane, an ice cream flavor, a hockey mascot and a bald freaking eagle bearing his name. As if that wasn't enough, he can now add a spider to the list.
The "Aptostichus stephencolberti" was named by East Carolina University biologist Jason Bond. Earlier in the year, Bond named a different species of spider after Neil Young, a fact Colbert apparently resented:
"Hey science? You're gonna name a bug after this hippie and not me? I'm extremely name-after-able!"
We can only speculate as to what Colbert will demand his moniker to grace next. Household cleaning products? A ride at Six Flags? The Library of Congress? Considering his track record, we wouldn't put it past him.
Be sure to catch The Colbert Report tonight when Bond will appear as a guest.
