Mike Skinner likes to blog. Let's rephrase. Mike Skinner loves to blog. This is great, especially for hardcore Streets fans that can't get enough of his crazy stories about drum machines and gambling. However, it is often the case that we have no idea what he is talking about. Exhibit A:
"I made a demand earlier this week that I wouldn't allow anyone to take my photo in front of anything incorporating modern life...We ended up standing by a tree right by a main road. It's going to look great. Like it could have been a million years ago."
Riiight. Or how about this one:
"Gonna fuck Johnny's natural 'everything is borrowed' shit up harsh with the sound of a pounding BASSDRUM. Maybe even put a big fuckin donk on it."
Ummm, yeah. We don't know either. However, we were able to cull a few little nuggets of info about Everything is Borrowed, as well as its follow-up, the album Skinner is saying will be the Street's last.
1. His house may or may not have been repossessed. In the "may not" scenario, it could have been a video for a song off Everything is Borrowed. We arrived at this conclusion after reading the phrase "You'll get to see the whole video when it drops soon..." at the end of Skinner's blog post.
2. The "last" album is called Computers and Blues and will include a 909 drum machine that Skinner is very excited about. This album will be "all about dancing and CHATTING SHIT."
3. We won't see it for at least two years.
And in more relevant news not ganked from Skinner's blog, an alleged Muse/Streets collaboration has been meandering around the Internet as of late. Muse confirmed that the track was "the result of a late-night jam session and something we did for a bit of a laugh featuring a blues riff we have been playing live recently upon which Skinner recorded some vocals. It is not intended to be a serious release so we are happy for it to be leaked unofficially." You can check it out for yourself here.
Skinner, who's always been a collab-happy fellow, was also rumored to have a duet with Robert Wyatt on Everything Is Borrowed. Sadly for us all, a press release confirmed that while Wyatt did record some vocals, they were "lost in the edit."
We hope we've satisfied your Streets/Skinner fix for the foreseeable future. And if you're still hankering for more, hit up Skinner's blog on MySpace. He'd be more than happy to oblige.
