Coldplay announces EP, full-length releases

As previously reported, Coldplay is already talking about its next record. Speculation had it that the band would release another disc by the end of this year or early 2009, due to an overstock of material from their recording sessions with Brian Eno for Viva La Vida.

Talking to BBC Radio's "6 Music," frontman Chris Martin told the host (along with R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe) that the band does in fact plan to release an album with some unused material. It will be an EP, probably called Prospects March, and should be out Dec. 26 or "something like that." A Rock & Roll Daily report seems to believe the CD will include the abandoned Kylie Minogue collaboration called "Luna."

But that's not all, folks: Martin also told the radio station the prolific band will release its fifth full-length disc "by November 2009 to end the decade." Apparently wiped out just thinking about it, Martin added, "And then we're gonna be 'Whoosh!' Where've they gone? Just like Keyser Sรถze."
