Watch the trailer for TV adaptation of Crash
Back in January, Starz announced plans to adapt the Oscar winning film Crash into a television show for the pay-cable channel.
Paul Haggis, co-writer/director of the 2005 Best Picture winner, and Don Cheadle, star and producer, are heading up the project as executive producers. Programming director Stephan Shelanksi said in a statement that the show will pick up where the film left off and while originally hoping to reunite the original-film cast, the show stars Dennis Hopper and features all new characters and actors.
Lionsgate, which released the movie, will also co-produce the show. Thirteen one-hour episodes have been ordered with a premiere date set for Oct. 17. Crash is only the second film in history to go from Best Picture winner to TV drama, followed by 1967's In the Heat of the Night. The show is also the first original drama series for Starz.
