In the battle to obtain the most prized online video content, YouTube is far and away the winner. So much so that it seems pointless that any contenders would even worry too much about where they fall underneath, right? Wrong. It seems nothing will stop Hulu, which boasts 900 film and TV titles, from inching its way, ever so slowly, from obscurity (and away from competitor Joost).
In a move to stay even with the competition (Joost announced plans to launch a social network around its site), Hulu announced its own plans, via a recent press release, including a whole host of new launches. Included? Show recommendations, user discussion forums, enhanced search function and better queue management.
But it doesn't stop there. In perhaps its biggest step forward, Hulu plans to create 17 topical channels, including Anime, Fashion and Beauty, Food and Leisure, Home and Garden, Comedy, Music, Video Games, etc. We're not sure, but we think this means they win. For now.
