In what seems to be a project that has gestated in the mind of Bob Mould for quite some time, the guitarist of the groundbreaking Minneapolis punk band Hüsker Dü announced on his website he has secured a deal to write and publish his memoirs.
From Hüsker Dü's slow burn rise to fame in the 1980's, the indie solo project Sugar, his struggle to come to terms with his sexuality, to even his dabbling into the world of professional wrestling (he was a creative consultant/director), there seems to be plenty of content for him to mull over in his book. Author Michael Azerrad (Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana, Our Band Could Be Your Life) will collaborate with Mould on the book, due in the fall of 2010.
"For many years, people have asked if and when I would
write my autobiography. I have always looked forward to this point in
time, where I could tell my stories, to answer the many questions about
the music and the lifestyle, and how they inform the creative process," Mould said. "I have not been alone on this ride: friends and foes, mentors and
associates, peers, lovers, all traveling by my side. The ride so far
has been incredible, and I hope to do my memory right in documenting
the journey."
