• Other Sound Festival: 13 Day Mission, North Elementary, Chopper, Grand Prize Winners, Icecaps @ WonderRoot -- 8 p.m. (The fourth Other Sound Festival kicks off! It's a local musical celebration, and gives scores of local publicity types the chance to stretch their legs.)
• Wild Sweet Orange, What Made Milwaukee Famous, The Goldest @ The Earl -- 9 p.m., $10

• The Sunglasses (L), War Elephant, Siddartha, Swamp Ape, Bandolier @ WonderRoot -- 8 p.m. (Proabably the best collection of band names I've seen in a while. That alone makes it worth attending.)

• Silver Jews, Monotonix, Spiritual Family Reunion @ Variety Playhouse -- 8:30 p.m., $15 (DMTO--we all know Silver Jews are worth seeing, but Monotonix is a shaving-cream-slinging Tel Aviv punk sludge fest that shouldn't be missed.)

• Ben Tanzer book party @ Wordsmith's Books -- 7:30 p.m. (The event, welcoming the "bleeding-edge Chicago-based author" is co-sponsored by BabyGotBooks.com, and honors Tanzer's second novel, Most Likely You Go Your Way And I’ll Go Mine. Wordsmith's is calling the evening “Most Likely You Go To Decatur And I’ll Go, Too.”)

• R.A. Salvatore @ Wordsmith's Books -- 7:30 p.m. (Like Dungeons and Dragons? The creator of Drizzt the Elf finally journeys to Decatur to make an appearance with his son Geno to celebrate their new young adult fantasy book The Stowaway.)
