Kanye West working on show for Comedy Central

Kanye West working on show for Comedy Central

In between teasing fans with bit-by-bit information about his new album, 808's & Heartbreak (due Dec.16), or saving face after altercations with the police, Kanye West is trying out television. His deal for a reported reality show with HBO has been long-in-the-works, but it's been revealed today West will have a hand in Comedy Central's new Crank Yankers-inspired show. Tentatively dubbed Alligator Boots, the project is described as 'hip-hop meets the Muppets.' Because, you know, nothing screams hip-hop more than Muppets.

The half-hour pilot for Alligator Boots has already been shot, co-executive produced by South Park's Jon Kimmel (brother of Jimmy, whose production company Jackhole Prods. is also behind the show). West, alongside peer Rhymefest, will perform music for the show in addition to executive producing. The idea behind the show draws obvious inspiration from the original Muppet crew, with West hosting the pilot in what they hope to be a rotating series of celebrity hosts. No release date is set, but Alligator Boots is looking at a fall 2009 debut.

Meanwhile, the hype for 808's & Heartbreak is in full bloom, with auto-tuned lead single "Love Lockdown" perched atop of iTunes' top 100 songs. If you haven't heard, well...
