John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy gets the green light

| | Comments (0)
Although it hardly made a dent in the box office, last year's biopic of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis was definitely an artistic success. Aside from its gorgeous visuals, one of the film's key elements was its restrained and poignant screenplay from television writer Matt Greenhalgh.  Greenhalgh followed the work up by writing about another important British artist, John Lennon.  But since the work was announced over a year ago without any news, word was that it had died.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that this isn't the case, however, and that the film will finally reach production. Titled Nowhere Boy, the movie will mostly explore Lennon's pre-Beatles days and what led him to songwriting. Right now, things are in the casting stage, but visual artist Sam Taylor-Wood has been announced as director. This will be her first feature, but Taylor-Wood gained a great deal of acclaim for her short film "Love You More" that premiered at Cannes earlier this year.
