Previously on Lost obsesses with "recap-rock"

There is certainly no shortage of fan material out there on Lost, the elusive, much-dissected ABC series, but a duo from Brooklyn has taken it to an unusual level. Adam Schatz and Jeff Curtin, who together make up Previously on Lost, toured the West Coast recently with their own brand of mythologizing the series—a song for every episode of season four, what the band dubs “recap-rock.”

Each giddy, breathless track reviews a week’s episode, and though the lyrics are often gently mocking (“Ladies and gentlemen, we lost a few friends this week / And something has to be said / For these best lost friends of ours”), the gentlemen comes touted as repeat-viewer fanboys with their own brand of tribute pop.

Armed with their album, The Tale of Season 4 and the Oceanic 6, Curtin and Schatz offer a welcome alternative to the dense theories all over the Web by less flamboyant Lostaways. Enjoy it while you can: rather than chronicle the final two seasons of the series, Curtin says the band will move on to recap other obsessions, like the New York City Marathon.
