Diesel announced today that Sri Lankan singer M.I.A. will be performing at Diesel xXx in Brooklyn. The multi-city concert will take place on Oct. 11 at venues across the glo-- wait, what? Isn't she supposed to be retired? We've been crying tears of unfathomable sorrow ever since Ms. Arulpragasam announced to the world that she was quitting music forever, effective immediately, last month. We wrote the headline "M.I.A. Officially Retires" at the time, but it looks like we need a new one. How about "M.I.A. Is a Big, Stupid Doo-Doo-Head That Can't Stop Toying With Paste's Feelings"? You think we would have learned after the Jay-Z debacle.
Anyway, where were we? Oh yes: Diesel's multi-city concert will take place on Oct. 11 simultaneously at venues across the globe. Starting in Tokyo, the show will continue in Beijing, Dubai, Athens, Amsterdam, Milan, Zurich, Munich, Paris, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Oslo, Helsinki, London, and Sao Paulo. The full international line-up includes Mark Ronson, Chicks on Speed, Steve Aoki and more.
The New York show at Pier 3 will serve as a finale for the globetrotting party, and will feature trapeze artists, fire eaters, roller-derby squads, and sword swallowers, as well as Brooklyn Heights' beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge. Hot Chip and N*E*R*D* are also performing with M.I.A. That is, if M.I.A. deigns to perform. Knowing our luck, she'll probably cancel right after we rip the tags off our new outfit. Jerk.
