New Radiohead album already underway

Just two days after In Rainbows lost out to Elbow's The Seldom Seen Kid for the Mercury Prize, Radiohead announced that new material is on its way. The band plans to return to the studio soon after the last leg of its world tour, which wraps in Japan next month.

Other details are scarce, but we do know that they're eager to dive back into the creative process. Guitarist Ed O'Brien told the BBC's 6 Music, “We’re still talking about doing some stuff and we’re really excited about it. First we came off tour to do some writing and we wanted to just carry on doing it because it was so brilliant.”

The band is currently enjoying a brief respite. The Japanese circuit begins Oct. 1:
