Paste presents the 2009 Rock'n'Reel At Sea contest

Democracy can be powerful when you get it right. Putting power in the hands of the people means that while you might not make everyone happy, you'll at least be seeing to the concerns of the majority. So if it works for the legislative and executive branches, why not for an Americana and folk-themed vacation cruise?

As part of our longstanding commitment to the democratic process, your humble correspondents here at Paste have teamed up with Cayamo Cruises to offer one singer-songwriter to play alongside Patty Griffin, Lyle Lovett, and John Hiatt on the Cayamo 2009 cruise. We did the leg work of narrowing down a field of over 300 entries to 20 semi-finalists, so now Paste is tossing an alley-oop your way and letting you play critic. Log in to the contest website and rate the entries to decide the top three. A panel of celebrity judges* will then pick the winner, who will get the chance to live out their fantasies of being a seafaring musician/pirate.

*Celebrity judges may or may not be Paste editors hopped up on espresso.
