In hopes of teaching the world that there are multiple ways to "go green," the powers that be in Hollywood are developing a new hybrid CGI/live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Posting on the Heavy Metal forums, co-creator of the interminable, mutant quartet, Kevin Eastman squealed, "There has been much talk [...] to do a better 're-invention' (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film--like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc." Lest the buzz splinter, the report was soon confirmed (at least in part) by his co-creator Peter Laird, who currently holds full control of the TMNT property.
Still in the very early stages of mutation, Laird admits that they've not yet decided on a villian. "It would be fun to do something with the Shredder," he confesses, "but I am also
excited about the possibility of creating some new characters for the
movie." Dangerous as that prospect is, it's hard to imagine that there's anyway to reinvent or new-fangle the teenage turtles nunchuk slinging, katana slicing, sai stabbing, bō battering, "cowabunga dude!" heroism.
