Torche schedules tour dates into November

A pitfall of writing about bands and songwriters that wield acoustic guitars is that one rarely gets to invoke overused rock-writing lingo like "killer," "blazing," or (let's not mince words here) "totally shredding."

Thankfully, talking about Torche, the metal-band-that-is-not-one, allows us to pack these words into our sentences like so much sludge-ridden distortion. You know, much like every riff that was packed into the band's latest, Meanderthal, out this year via Hydra Head/Robotic.

In superlative fashion befitting the band's propensities for totally shredding (can't get enough), the Miami/Atlanta quartet recently launched a monster, multi-continental tour. But before leaving for Europe with Chicago's post-metal troupe Pelican to blaze (last one) its trail to rock glory, Torche will give its half-home state of Florida one final opportunity to bid farewell. Labelmates Clouds, Louisville rockers Coliseum and San Francisco distortion-maniacs Black Cobra fill out the bills for other legs of the trip around the world, which will take, if you were wondering, a little less than 80 days.
