CLIF Greennotes adds artists, releases benefit album

CLIF Greennotes, a CLIF Energy Bar-sponsored program that helps musicians to green up their tours, has recently added five artists to the list of participants. The non-profit is in its fourth year, and plans to celebrate the growth of the endeavor with a benefit album, and a handful of neighborhood clean-up events.

Protect the Places We Play is available for purchase on iTunes for $7.99, and features 12 tracks from Greennotes artists Xavier Rudd, the John Butler Trio and others. Of the recent additions to the Greennotes mission (Missy Higgins, Josh Ritter, The Duhks, Ben Kweller and Steven Kellogg and the Sixers), Higgins is the sole newcomer on the benefit collection.

The first of the clean-up/concert events occurred Sept. 27, with sister efforts in Boston and Yosemite, Calif. At the end of the day, Higgins played for volunteers at the Boston location, Ritter for the Calif. set.

The next volunteer opportunity will be sometime in November. Kweller is scheduled to entertain Greennotes enthusiasts at the Austin, Texas event.
