Deerhunter kick off tour, Microcastle gets physical

After its accidental leak and legal iTunes debut in August, Deerhunter's Microcastle, perhaps the most anticipated album by an Atlanta artist this year, finally hit stores in physical form on Tuesday (Oct. 28) via Kranky stateside and 4AD overseas. To appropriately celebrate this momentous occasion, Bradford Cox and company will embark up on a national tour, kicking it off on Halloween at their hometown's own Variety Playhouse, where they'll be joined by Jay Reatard, Times New Viking and Pylon.

Later dates on the tour will feature guests Knyfe Hyts, Vivian Girls (who just showed Paste some love at CMJ), Neighborhood Council, Disappears and BARR. Times New Viking will open all shows.

Deerhunter's special Halloween show will no doubt be mayhem, given all the bands' penchants for showmanship. Stay tuned to Paste:Local Atlanta for a review of the spooktacular blast and more All Hallow's Eve musical mischief around town, including the Star Bar's Deerhunter after party for The Spooks' (Jared Swilley, Joe Bradley and Cole Alexander of The Renegades Black Lips) CD release. Fitting, as Alexander lends a vocal collage to the Microcastle track "Saved by Old Times."
