Shakori Hills Grassroots fest hits N.C. this weekend

October 8, 2008  |  9:34am
This weekend, the town of Silk Hope, North Carolina (near Raleigh/Chapel Hill), will play host to more than 40 bands and performers at the Fall Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance.

Key performers include The Del McCoury Band, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Nnenna Freelon, The Duhks, Donna and the Buffalo, and Eileen Ivers. It is a festival, so all the typical fair fodder will be present: food al fresco, artists and craft vendors, poetry readings, instrumental competitions, and a slew of activities for children. But this year's events also include a sustainability fair, where green enthusiasts can share ideas on environmental preservation.

Tickets can be bought in advance, with discounts availalbe for festival-long passes. Click here for more info.
