Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno will make its premiere at this year's CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival. CMJ announced its initial line-up today, along with their inaugural Cinemini Short Film Contest, and another first: a partnership with the Broadway rock musical Spring Awakening.
Zack and Miri Make a Porno, which stars Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express) and Elizabeth Banks (W.), shows Oct. 23, halfway through the five-day festival. The Marathon incorporates music and film, panel discussions, a comedy show, an artist lounge and gift suite (where participants can share everything from inspiration to festival swag), tours of collaborating radio station WNYU, and now, the option for badge holders to attend Spring Awakening.
Producer David Picker (The Crucible) and documentarian Mark Marabella (FBI Files) will head the juries of filmmakers judging the Cinemini Competition. Prizes will be awarded to the best documentary and narrative films (under 40 minutes).
The Film Festival also features the New York premieres of Johnny Cash: Live at Fulsom Prison, American Swing, What About Me?, and Pressure Cooker. Festival goers will also be privy to the U.S. premieres of AC/DC: No Bull and For My Father. Check out the docket-in-progress here.
