Nick Cave writes book, curates/headlines Aussie ATP

Nick Cave sure is busy these days. After the critically acclaimed release of Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! (accompanied later by a little book) and a tour filled year, Cave has announced plans to release a new book entitled The Death of Bunny Munro. This will be, of course, his second work of fiction after releasing And the Ass Saw the Angel in 1989.

The new book will be put out by Canongate in Sept. 2009 and will be released in conjunction with an audio book narrated by Cave himself and an e-book. Also, a special edition e-book will be released featuring an original "soundscape." While we're at it...speaking of special editions, a signed and limited edition number of the book will be available as well.

Tiny Mix Tapes tells us that the book is dark, describing it thusly: "In rather typical Cave fashion, this new endeavor traces the fortunes of one man and his son on a road trip around the south coast of England following the suicide of his wife."

Dark or no, Canongate stands by their man. "Nick is one of the great forces in contemporary culture — not just an outstanding musician and singer, but also a superb writer, be it of lyrics, screenplays, music scores or novels," says publisher/managing director Jamie Byng. "This novel is going to shock and amaze a lot of people."

Whats really shocking and amazing here is that Nick Cave's crazy 2008 doesn't stop there. He and the Seeds are banding together to curate and headline the first ever All Tomorrow's Parties (ATP) Australia Festival. Signed up so far? Spiritualized, Silver Apples, Michael Gira, Fuck Buttons, Afrirampo, Harmonica, James “Blood” Ulmer, The Saints, former Go-Between Robert Foster, Laughing Clowns, Bridezilla, the Necks, Primitive Calculators, Rowland S. Howard, and The Stabs.
