Paste hosts Portastatic, Oxford Collapse, many more at CMJ

Now that the dust-up with Sonicbids is taken care of, CMJ 2008 looks like it'll once again be one of the biggest and best music festivals in the U.S. this year. This in turn raises a bigger issue: all those poor performers gamboling about in canvas sneakers and relentlessly hip wool jackets are going to need a place to take refuge from New York City's merciless mid-October weather. Here at Paste, we think there's a better way. Your humble servants, in conjunction with KCRW Radio and Indie Outlaw, will be hosting the inaugural CMJ Artist Lounge at this year's CMJ Festival in New York City.

For the first time ever CMJ will feature an official artist's lounge, "offering a central meeting place for CMJ's artists to interact and rest in between shows and screenings." Of course, what green room would be complete without a gift suite too? Onitsuka Tiger, Yak Pak, Chipotle, Edun and Gibson will all be giving away swag, and Integrated Body Solutions will serve up some complimentary massages. Oh yeah, and Pabst Blue Ribbon's bringing the beer.

Mere materialism is no substitute for good company though, so there'll be some live music from class acts like Gringo Star, Cheeseburger, Vivian Girls, Portastatic, Justin Townes Earle, The Broken West and many more. Check the event flyer for the full rundown.

Give us your tired, your dehydrated, your huddled musicians yearning to chill out. The Lounge will be open every afternoon October 21-25, from 12-6PM at the Red Bull Space (40 Thompson St. @ Watts St.)
